Who really benefits from the pink ribbon campaigns: the cause or the company? In showing the real story of breast cancer and the lives of those who fight it, this film reveals the co-opting of what marketing experts have labeled a “dream cause.”

Everyone should take the time to watch the documentary Pink Ribbons, Inc.

Last Night in Ferguson (10.21.14): A state senator was arrested (and mama may have been legally packing), one of the lead organizers, nettaaaaaaaa, was roughed up by police, and one of the main sources of footage/live feeds, Rebel Z, was detained in what seems to have been an intimidation and straight up harassment tactic. The police are out of control, and it’s only getting worse. If you think this is over, you need to look again. #staywoke #farfromover

Ferguson is still happening. Are you still paying attention?

Tune into Z’s UStream tonight to watch developments live.

Do you still need more proof of rape culture?

As Noam Chomsky once pointed out for Z Magazine, old media types from the institutional bodies like American Enterprise Institute tend to regurgitate the same ideas with a reliability that is equally impressive and infuriating. While assuring the public that rape is a terrible crime, writers like Caroline Kitchens and Heather McDonald of right-wing think tank The Manhattan Institute try to claim that feminists have blown this whole rape culture thing way out of proportion.

Apparently, many women disagree. On Tuesday there were more than 1 million responses on the #RapeCultureIsWhen hashtag started by a frustrated Zerlina Maxwell in response to these right-wing narratives.

‘GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY’ SCREENWRITER NICOLE PERLMAN TO WRITE ‘GAMORA’ COMIC SERIES [NYCC]
By Andrew Wheeler
The Guardians Of The Galaxy movie created new stars for Marvel, with solo titles spinning out for Rocket Raccoon, by Skottie Young, and Legendary Star-Lord, by Sam Humphries and Paco Medina. Much of the credit for tapping in to this corner of the Marvel Universe belongs to Nicole Perlman, the screenwriter who zeroed in on Guardians as a movie project and first saw its potential.
Now Perlman gets another chance to play in the house that she helped to build. Marvel announced at the Women of Marvel panel at New York Comic-Con on Sunday that Perlman will write an ongoing Gamora series launching some time in spring 2015. Further details, including the artist for the project, have not been released.

"When James Gunn came on board as director, he rewrote the script without further input from Perlman — and he’s been noticeably ungracious about Perlman’s contributions.  In an interview with FilmDivider, Gunn said, ‘Really, in Nicole’s script everything is pretty different. I mean the story is different, there’s no Walkman, the character arcs are different, it’s not about the same stuff. But that’s how the WGA works. They like first writers an awful lot.’”
Well, all-righty, then.  Good thing we’re getting a chance to see Perlman’s take on the characters, especially Gamora.  Then we can evaluate creator against creator.
I, for one, am pleased by this development.  I think there’s a lot of potential to Gamora.  In addition, I continue to see signs that Marvel Comics is working to diversify the ranks of the creators, and that is important.

White people will literally tattoo ANYTHING on their bodies. ABSOLUTELY. ANYTHING.

why is she tattooing tea on her? did tea save her life?

I have this feeling that she doesn’t even know what chai means. Probably thought it was spiritual or something. I’m patiently waiting for her response lmao

CHAI IS THE HEBREW WORD FOR LIFE HOLY SHIT LOOK AT THE PICTURE IT SAYS #Hebrew THE WRITING IS IN HEBREW YA’LL ARE BEING PURPOSEFULLY IGNORANT TO SHAME A “WHITE” GIRL WHO ISN’T EVEN WHITE

AYYYY Jew stepping in here.  Chai (chet-Yud) translates to “Life”. Which is what we say out of respect to the familes of those who die. But most importantly it is a symbol of the jewish religion, this being from the saying “Am Yisrael Chai” translating to “The children of Israel are alive”.  Do you know how awesome it is to see someone embracing my culture? I’ve grown up scared to even mention that i’m jewish to people in fear of being attacked or killed. So to see someone tattoo it on themselves is awesome! I mean yeah the Torah forbids it, but it also forbids most medicines so fuck that. All you SJWs go on about “appropriating other people cultures”. But did any of you think to actually ask a Jew?  No.  You all assumed she had “Tea” tattooed on her because saying you’re open minded is completely different to actually having an open mind.
Here’s a little saying for you by Hillel."he who refuses to learn deserves extinction.”
And you didn’t even try to learn.
Your Anti-Semitism disgusts me and i hope you learnt a lesson here.ps summer-tryst You have embarassed the hell out of yourself. Enjoy eating your own words since Chai “Isnt even spiritual”.  nahh. it just represents the religion that all monotheistic faiths are built upon.  totally not religious.

Ummm….Tattoos are forbidden in most sects of Judaism…Original text is “You shall not make gashes in your flesh for the dead, or incise any marks on yourselves: I am the Lord” (Vayikra 19:28). Although some rabbis take the latter half to only mean tattoos that promote idolatry or those that include non-jewish ideology, even the more lenient still affirm the ban on tattoos.

I am ethnically and culturally Jewish, but I do not adhere to all of the religious rules. I don’t keep Kosher and I have lots of tattoos. If this person experiences her Judaism in a way that’s not exclusively adhering to religious tradition, that’s her choice. If this is how she professes her pride or love of Judaism or Hebrew or her family you do not have the right to judge her.
